Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing is truly why I have my blog. The organization has learned to use the sport and leisure of fly fishing to help those who have served to heal from the traumas they faced while serving. If you served in any branch of the military and feel that you would be interested in being a member of Project Healing Waters click here to view their page and get information on how to find a group near you.
The group I attend is at the VA Outpatient Clinic in New City, NY every 2nd and 4th Wednesday nights of the month from 6pm until around 8pm. Though we meet at the VA, Healing Waters is a totally separate entity. They do not receive money from the government but through donations of very generous people who just care about us veterans. Donors and volunteers who help Healing Waters will make you know that you did the right thing when you chose to serve this great country. Some people can make you doubt that but you won’t find any of then here.
If you want to find out more about the group I attend, Nicole March has a way better organized blog than I do. I can’t figure out how to do everything yet. I just started this blog last week. Nicole’s blog is The Quilted Tyer. Click the button on top of her page that says PHWFF for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing.
Hopefully when I figure out this blog, I can add a calendar of future events and news of past ones. Heck I don’t even know how to pick what page a post gets attached to yet. Yes I was a grunt if you have not guessed; but I am a proud one and I am glad to have Project Healing Waters to help me to heal from my wartime experiences.
